Co-op Guide: Playing with 2–4 Coworkers

CRACK is built for four coworkers. The developer’s launch note says it is “better with 4”, and the egg scales up to a demolition job that rewards splitting up the work.

Hosting and joining

• Co-op runs over Steam online multiplayer. One player hosts and friends join through Steam.
• Since v1.0.35, hosting or joining gives up after 30 seconds if it can’t reach Steam, instead of hanging on Connecting….
• v1.0.31 raised the Steam timeout from 10 to 30 seconds to reduce dropped connections.
• Some world actions are host-only.

Solo players: v1.0.43 added Offline Mode. In Offline Mode the pause menu actually pauses the game.

Money is per-player

Each worker has their own balance. That matters because:

• Expensive items (dynamite, workbot upgrades, scaffolding) are easier to afford if you pool money.
• The funds transfer device moves money between accounts. Send $1,000 to a coworker for Team Player.
• Wealth redistribution events can take more than half of one player’s money, so spreading cash out limits the damage.

Suggested roles for a team of four

Role	Job
Breaker	Front-line cracking with the best tool, picks targets
Hauler	Buckets and golf cart runs to the Resource Depot
Engineer	Scaffolding, workbot purchases, upgrades and repairs
Lookout	Watches the agitation monitor, runs the sedative computer, handles events like pipe bursts and audits

Rotate roles every few shifts so everyone can buy upgrades.

Co-op-only achievements

These need at least one other player:

• Team Player: transfer $1,000 to a coworker (1.9%)
• Arcade Master: beat a coworker at every two-player arcade game (0.5%)
• Egg on Your Face: hit a coworker in the head with an egg (7.0%)
• Hit and Run: run over a coworker with a vehicle (49.8%)

Co-op fixes worth knowing

• Snake turns now respond properly in multiplayer (v1.0.35).
• Leaderboard names in Cyrillic now show up (v1.0.31).
• Golf carts can be upgraded from anywhere, not only in the bay (v1.0.35).
