Game Modes: Chill Mode & Offline Mode
Everything Chill Mode and Offline Mode change in CRACK (added in v1.0.43), and which achievements you cannot earn with Chill Mode on.
Patch v1.0.43 (Quality of Life, 2026-10-27) added two options that change how CRACK plays.
Chill Mode
A more relaxed way to crack the egg. With Chill Mode on:

Achievements affected by Chill Mode
Chill Mode doesn’t say achievements are disabled. But it removes the events several achievements need, so you likely can’t earn these with it on:
- #1 Plumber: fix all burst pipes (no pipe bursts)
- Structural Collapse: go down with the scaffolding (no scaffold breaking)
- IT Specialist: repair 10 workbots (bots never break)
- Well Rested: sleep in your quarters every night (no bedtime)
Whether Corrective Action (fail an audit) still triggers without the penalty is unconfirmed.
Recommendation: For a first playthrough with friends, Chill Mode is fine. For 100% achievements, play standard.
Offline Mode
- Play solo without a Steam connection.
- In Offline Mode, the pause menu actually pauses the game. In online sessions the world keeps running.
Other settings worth knowing
- Reduce Camera Motion (General menu, v1.0.35) helps with motion sickness.
- Invert Y axis (Controls menu, v1.0.31).
- Vulkan launch option (v1.0.43) for graphics cards that have trouble with DX11. See Troubleshooting.

Can I play CRACK offline?
Yes. Since v1.0.43 an Offline Mode option lets you play solo without a connection, and the pause menu actually pauses the game in that mode.
